Local Survey

Local residents sprung into action in September 2011 and started a door to door survey. The residents are not committee members but feel strongly that there is a need to fully understand the views of other local residents. We welcomed the residents action and we would like other residents to be truthful on their views for the proposed wind farm, should they be apporoached.

Please note that that the survey covered East Brent, Bristol Road, Rooksbridge and collection from an event (where people had not previously signed)

Notes - in response to some queries raised.

• The survey was started independently by a local supporter but was enthusiastically endorsed and accepted by NoPirow
• NOpilrow are not a professional organisation. We understand that we will be told all sorts of reasons why this survey was wrongly worded, but the findings are simple and straightforward answers to simple and straightforward questions. If anyone else wishes to undertake a similar survey they could certainly do so.
• The residents carried out this survey within approx 2 km radius of the site and tried to reach as many people in the Parish of East Brent - that is mainly the two villages of East Brent and Rooksbridge. Obviously for a variety of reasons, not every single parishioner was questioned (e.g. no one at home). However, we believe that any statistician would accept that over 600 answers in a rural parish area such as ours would constitute a valid data cross section. Teams worked on a strict street by street basis and no attempt was made to pick and choose who to ask, All those against the Wind Farm signed off the survey and where someone was undecided or in favour of the wind farm their views were logged as such and have been included in the above numbers. All survey documents are now with the committee and will be kept.
• It is obvious that in publishing the fact that over 10% of the local residents were "in favour" or "undecided" about the proposal shows our intention to give a balanced picture.
